How to Put Letters on the Wall Without Drilling

One of the questions we get most is whether you need to drill the wall. For letters and name plates, you don't. Each piece has double-sided tape on the back and sticks in seconds. For it to go well, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Before you start

  • Smooth, dry surface. Painted walls, tiles, glass, lacquered wood and furniture work well. Heavily textured walls, crumbling plaster or wallpaper come loose more easily.
  • Fresh paint. If the wall was painted recently, wait for the paint to fully cure before sticking.
  • Humidity. Avoid damp walls or bathrooms without ventilation.

Step by step

  1. Clean the wall. A slightly damp cloth to remove dust. Let it dry.
  2. Mark the line. With painter's tape or a light pencil, mark a straight line. A spirit level helps.
  3. Try before sticking. Hold the letters up without removing the film, adjust the spacing and take a photo.
  4. Stick from the middle out. Start with the middle letter and work outwards. That way the name stays centred.
  5. Press. Press firmly for a few seconds on each letter.

And to remove them?

Pull the piece slowly, from bottom to top, not straight out. If the tape resists, a warm hairdryer for a few seconds helps loosen it.

What about the hooks?

Wall hooks are different: since they hold weight, they use a screw and wall plug, both included. The star and moon wall plaques stick on with tape, just like the letters.
